"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will -- to your surprise -- miss them profoundly."

8 Years Of Wonderful...

Lily 8 years old

She is our long legged, bright eyed, energetic, happy girl!

She is a good friend to others. I saw her standing in line once, she was first in line. Two girls were arguing who could be behind her and next in line, and she told one of them to stand in front of her. She gave up the first spot! Her friend put her arm around her to “thank her” and the friend behind her put her chin on Lily’s shoulder, almost to get some attention from Lily. Lily then turned and put her arm around that friend too. She doesn’t want anyone to feel left out. She is a wonderful friend to all.

She EASILY makes friends. She is fun to be around, kids LOVE her. She makes other children (including her sisters) laugh easily.

She loves to write stories! She was chosen for a Reader’s CafĂ© in school and wrote the longest and most detailed story. She is currently writing her very own chapter book called, “The Clues.”

She has a wonderful imagination, not only when she writes. She can come up with games to play and things to do all the time. She never says she is bored. Once at her Grandma’s house, there were no real toys to play with, and her and her sisters got out a chess set, and started playing family, house, school, etc. with the pieces. She never has trouble coming up with games and ideas. Our backyard currently has no toys/swingset/trampoline and I was worried the kids would always be so bored when they went out to play, but no, they always find something to play, to make believe, to pretend.

having fun squeezing into dad's snowpants, one child per leg!

With a poster they all made for Ben and I.  She is constantly drawing, writing, and creating.

Her favourite colour is purple.

She loves to always make the point that she is like me….”we both like purple, we both have green eyes, we are both tall, and we are both girls.”

She loves scrambled eggs for breakfast with a bit of syrup. I can always convince her to get out of bed in the morning by telling her I am making scrambled eggs for breakfast. After only minutes, she comes down fully dressed, hair brushed and ready to go! Her favourite however, is WAFFLES for breakfast.

She loves having Family Home Evening, it is one of the highlights of her entire week. She loves to see who is scheduled to do what on our little chart. She loves being the treat, but her favourite is giving the lesson. She does a great job of it too! I once found a note that said, “Today is Monday and that means FAMILY HOME EVENING! “ She also told me once of a dream she had where she was having a sleepover at her school with her friends Hope, Emma, Lissette, and “No teachers!” She was excited but then in the dream she remembered it was Family Home Evening and she didn’t want to miss it and so she left and walked home. She loves FHE, and it is very important to her.

She loves to discover other children are her same age and instantly becomes friends with them if they are.

She wrote her cousin Hayden’s birthday on her wipeboard so she wouldn’t forget it. (Oct 8) He is her favorite cousin on Ben’s side, and Rory is her favorite cousin on my side. She calls them her “best friend cousins. “

She is an excellent student. Always excels in her school work and listens and behaves well for her teachers. She got Student of the Month in October.

She loves to help in the kitchen. She is my only child who will come in and ask if she can help and will do anything I come up with….set the table, stir something, anything!

one of many times helping me in the kitchen

She is talented and very patient at the piano. She is in her third year of lessons, and she does so well! She is currently working on the song, “Dinosaur Stomp.”

She loves JELLO.

Her friends at school and church are Emma, Lissette-Andrea, Hope, Lanacey (who phones her several times a day to say hello) Kale, Janie, Tessa, Dallin, and Ben, and many others! She wrote this adorable note to Nana and Grandpa explaining:

She loves swimming lessons (she is in an older class and does well), skating at the lake, playing at the playground, riding bikes in warmer weather, tobogganing, and anything active! She has lots of wonderful energy.

Can you see her on the rope swing?

Lately...

A sight like this makes my heart melt.  They had just gotten home from the library and sat down to read together...

Chloe lost her first tooth!  She was so excited.  She already has 2 more loose ones.  She wrote this note to the toothfairy.  It was so cute. It reads, "Dear Tooth Fairy, Take care of my tooth.  Please give him lots of Caesar salad and cinnamon.  Please sign _____. From Chloe."

Here is our niece Emma and the girls' cousin and awesome babysitter!  She has babysat for us a lot since we moved here and we love it!  It is nice having her live 10 min away.  We go to watch her basketball games from time to time.  She is awesome!

Olivia was a little obsessed with these glasses and book for a while.  She came up to me and asked, "Mom, do these glasses make me look cool or smart?"  She would always frantically say, "Mom where is my book and glasses!"  Too cute.

Izzy did this FHE for us one week.  She created it at Activity Days one week.  She did a great job!  The girls were all ears and very attentive that night.  It was an adorable little puppet show on good manners.

Izzy's been participating in floor hockey at school at lunch lately.  Parents are invited to come watch and cheer on.  She loves it and is pretty good!

She received Student of the Month for February!  She was chosen by her classmates as the most caring student in her class.  We are so proud.

These were their Valentine's  this year:

I've been playing in a volleyball league since Jan and it has been so fun!  Ben and I joined in a tournament one Sat, got a babysitter for the whole day.  It was so fun to play together again.  It had been over 10 years since we played together. Our team actually got 4th place.  Excuse the horrible photo, we were all sweaty from playing all day!  It was fun.

I found this adorable little note Lily had written about her and Chloe.  It's titled, "The Lily and Chloe Paper."  It says things like, "BFF's.  GIRLS'RULE."  It has their initials which are CLA and LCA, they LOVE to point that out all the time.  And the fact that, "Chloe was born in 2007 and I'm seven, and I was born in 2005 and Chloe's five."  That is a neat coincidence, and it is not the case anymore since Chloe turned 6!  I wanted to record this, I thought it was so cute.

Ice on Whyte Festival

We took the girls to the Ice on Whyte Festival this year.

These IceBodies were fun to take pics of:

The sculptures were very impressive:

Ben's rock hard body of ice....

The slides were a blast for the kiddos...

Chloe's Party

Here she is with the birthday balloon to wake up to.  Her and Lily love to have "sleepovers."

She loved helping me make up the goody bags.  We found these cute boxes that said, "OWL be your Valentine."

Her gifts and the sign all ready for her to wake up to:

Good morning birthday girl!

She requested waffles, orange juice and the works for her birthday breakfast!

This year she wanted to have a party at Kidz Quarterz in Sherwood Park.  It is a great little place.  The kids had a lot of fun.  She invited Felix and Andrea from school, Bailey from church, and Conner, Braxton and Beckam from her cousins.  It was a blast!

She got the "Castle Room" and loved sitting on the throne chair.

She loved this vet toy from Nana and Grandpa, a perfect gift for her!

Blowing out the candles on the GREEN cupcakes she requested....

More presents!

Chloe and I at Kidz Quarterz, happy birthday Chloe!

Chloe 6 years old:

-loves loves LOVES anything GREEN! It is her favourite colour in the universe. She loves to try and wear as much green as she can everyday. She had a project in school where we had to look up what her name means, and we discovered it means, “young, green shoot, blooming.” Too funny! She is like a young, green shoot that blooms more everyday!

She even chooses green toys

In the GREEN plane
-She is an amazing helper and thoughtful child. She always considers others feeling, especially her sisters, and tries hard to do things for other people. For example, one day she was out shoveling the snow in front of our house when I realized she had been out there for some time. When I looked out the window, she was shoveling the neighbour’s walk too! She was so proud of herself for doing that and would often ask, “Would Jesus be happy with me for doing that?”

Shovelin' away, workin' hard

-she loves anything cinnamon, especially cinnamon toast! She would eat that for all 3 meals everyday if I let her.

-She is a great little athlete. She is known for her speed and agility at school. When we pick her from school we will often see her playing chase with the kids, and it is always her in the lead with the pack of children running after her. Even the boys can’t keep up! Whenever we hear the song, “Call Me Maybe,” on the radio, she loves the part when it says, “and all the boys, they try to chase me…” She thinks the song is about her. She loves her swimming lessons, enjoys skating without falling, riding her two wheeler in warm weather, and playing on the monkey bars at playgrounds.

Riding her two wheeler (note the green outfit!)

Loves to skate at the lake

-She loves to practice printing and reading. She is great at it too! She loves to write notes to people and poems on her wipe board in her room, and a chalkboard we have.

-She loves baking and making crafts and colouring. We set up her own little colouring station in her room and she loves to draw and color us pictures on a daily basis.

Busy making crafts

Loves to help bake and cook

-She loves to study the scriptures and loves when it is her turn to pick a scripture sticker. She loves to take her mini Book of Mormon to church with her every Sunday.

-She is very organized and loves to organize her things just so. She does a great job keeping them together and keeping track of it all.

Her little shelf with all of her things, arranged just so...

-She loves to build forts out of blankets and pillows.

-She loves to smile and giggle! She is an incredibly happy child and easily makes friends and gets along with other children so well.

-Her favourite part of any day is going to school! She loves Kindergarten so much and takes pride in the fact that she is well behaved. She loves when she gets to be the leader for the day. She often asks me if it is time to go to school yet, even on a Saturday!

Proud of her school work

-She has wonderful patience. She knows how to wait her turn for things. One time her and Lily were playing a game of some sort and then I told Lily she needed to practice her piano. Chloe just sat so patiently on the couch the entire time waiting for her to be done.

-She loves to brush her teeth every night and will even get started on it without me asking. Her dentist commends her on her clean teeth and says she can tell Chloe brushes her teeth so well.

-She still wants to be a vet when she grows up, although lately she has LOVED playing doctor for humans.  She sets up a little clinic on her bed complete with bandaids and paper to write her prescriptions on.  She calls herself Doctor C. It is pretty adorable.

We love our 6 year old Chloe!!!!!
