"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will -- to your surprise -- miss them profoundly."

Anderson Family Reunion 2010

So we went up to Edmonton the last week of July to have a family reunion, and also to celebrate Ben's parent's 40th anniversary. The week was packed full of fun activities. It started out with our niece's baptism. Afterwards we took a few photos by the Temple:

The next day we went out to Long Island Lake, just north of Edmonton, and played on the beach all day and went tubing behind Uncle Dave's boat. Isabelle was too afraid to try it out, but Chloe and Lily loved it! This is the one and only photo I have of that day, and it was taken with Ben's blackberry. It is Lily, Chloe and their cousin Bailey having a turn on the tube:

The next day we went out to the Ukrainian Village, out by Vegreville. I have never been there before, and it was a lot of fun. We had a scavenger hunt, went on wagon rides, and had an authentic Ukrainian meal with perogies, cabbage rolls, and kubasa.

Olivia loved the horses:

We also had family photos taken that day. We got some of all of the grand kids afterwards. There are 29 grand kids in total, and 2 of Ben's siblings are expecting for next year. All of the cousins get along really well, and it is just fun to have them all together.

Oldest to youngest....

My niece Morgan with Olivia:
That evening the adults only went to the Mayfield Dinner Theatre. It had a really, really good buffet first, and then the show was a play called "Tuesdays with Morrie, " and starred one of the guys from the show MASH, Jamie Farr. It was actually a really nice play, and had a good theme to it.

The next day was Dennis and Gwenn's anniversary party. We had a family dance, a craft for the kids to do, and a lasagna supper. Ben's sisters even got a replica of their wedding cake made for dessert, and made a slide show of their life together.

All of the grand kids sang "Families Can Be Together Forever"...

That evening we all went to see "How To Train Your Dragon" in the cheap theatres. It was in 3D and I thought it was so good.
The next day we went on the Edmonton Queen Riverboat. I couldn't believe how big it was, I always thought it was a lot smaller. It was really fun, and the meal was pretty good, even though it was so hot and humid that day.

The week was fantastic! It was so great to see everyone, especially Ben's brother and his family who came out from Ontario and haven't been home in three years. I'm sure it was really nice for Dennis and Gwenn to have all of their children together again.
The following weekend we actually went back up to Edmonton, to go to the Temple and do Ben's grandparents' Temple work; their endowment and sealing. Then Gwenn was sealed to her parents. I was able to stand in as Ben's grandma at one point, when they got sealed. It was a really great experience, and I feel so happy that Gwenn is now sealed to her parents and them to theirs. The Temple is truly a blessing in our lives.
