"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will -- to your surprise -- miss them profoundly."

The Cupcake Party

We had Chloe's birthday party over the weekend. She wanted a "cupcake" theme party this year. So we made paper baker hats, decorated cupcakes, made candy necklaces, and played pin-the-candle-on-the-cupcake. She loved it and was so happy all day!

I found this applique of a sparkly cupcake to iron on to one of her old shirts. She loved it and was so excited to wear it the day of the party!

Here she is infront of her cake--a cupcake cake! I saw this on the side of the Betty Crocker cake mix box and thought it would be perfect for her cupcake party. It was so easy to make too.

Here everyone is making and decorating their baker hats:

The whole crew:

Now the fun part, decorating the cupcakes!

Playing Pin-the-candle-on-the-cupcake:

Cake time! I love the look of Chloe's face here. She is so excited to blow out her candles:

Present time! Chloe loved all of her gifts from her friends. Here they all are with the gift we gave her, an easel with a chalkboard, white board, and a paper roll all in one. She loved it!

Here are the invitations we sent out to her friends. I saw the idea on a Williams-Sonoma website, but I didn't want to pay and wait to order them online, so I thought I'll just make them! The little cupcake invite slips inside a little envelope that looks like a cupcake baking cup. They were super easy to make and everyone loved them!

Chloe even had fun making thank you cards for all of her friends. I took a picture of each of the guests with Chloe, and printed it onto the card.

It was a fun party and day all in all. I can't believe Chloe is already 4! Happy Birthday Chloe!!!!

Excuses, Excuses

Today Lily was frantically searching for a stuffed kitten that she especially loves. She was getting frustrated with not finding it, and was saying that I should know where her things are. I said, " Lily, they are your toys, you need to care of them, not me." She replied, "I DID take care of it. Then when I fell asleep, it just flew away!" A likely excuse. We did eventually find it, under my bed of all places.

I also wanted to record another one of Chloe's Cute Quips. I was giving her a hug and telling her how much I love this Chloe and that she was the best Chloe in the whole world, and she said, "I was the only Chloe left at the store when you bought me," with a huge grin, as always. :)

Isabelle the Missionary

Isabelle showed me this note she wanted to give to some friends of her on the bus:

It says,"Dear Alexis, if you and Jaden will like to go to church with me, you can. You have to dress nice. Izzy."

She has told me she wants to invite the whole bus and all of the kids in her class to church with her. I remember the night before her first day of grade 1, she told me I needed to find her CTR ring so she could tell everyone in her new school what it meant and that we follow the Savior. She really is a little missionary at heart and wants to share what she knows with the whole world. It is something I really love about her.

Chloe's New 'Do

Here is her "before" photo with long hair (this wasn't taken today, but that is what it looked like):

And here she is after!

We watched Charlie and The Chocolate Factory yesterday, and when she saw her new haircut in the mirror she said to me, "Mom, I look like Violet Beauregarde!" She loves her short hair and has been asking for a cut for a long time now. It was very much needed! She looks so CUTE!

Chloe's First Day Of Primary

Sunday was Chloe's first day of Primary. She loved it! She was so excited to go. Here she is with her mini Book of Mormon we got her for Christmas. We got all of the girls one for Christmas. They all love to highlight and put scripture stickers and read them every night.
Can you tell she is excited?

The Girls LOVE Their American Girl Dolls

A big Thank you for Nana and Grandpa! They love to dress them into their pajama's every night.

Christmas 2010 (Part 2)

After Christmas, we went to visit Ben's family for a couple of days. Here are some photos:

Like Grandfather like granddaughter. Olivia loved Gwenn's "Toddler Flashcards" game on the iphone:

Gwenn and Dennis with the Fantastic Four:

Gwenn reading Chloe some stories:

Olivia loves dogs! She LOVED playing with big Riley, and he was ever so gentle with her. She loved to climb on his back and bounce up and down, much to his dismay. Even then, though, he was extremely patient with her:

It was great to see family. Here is a shot with the Johnston cousins. It is not a great one, but the only one I have:

We also saw the Marusiaks and went sledding with them. Here are Abbey and Olivia:

Emma and Lily out sledding:

Olivia and I before her first run down the hill. She loved it!

Here is Ben with the girls, pre break. Yes, pre BREAK. He actually broke his ankle and leg going down this very hill. Boo. And his leg just barely healed from the last accident. :( It unfortunately cut our visit short, and so we never got to spend time with the Tanners or the Greeps.

Here he is a few days later on New Year's Eve, with his casted leg and all. He ended up having to get surgery for one screw in his ankle. It should heal in 6-8 weeks time. So he is back to using crutches for a while....

Izzy and I having a ginger ale drink on New Year's:

Happy New Year 2011!
