"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will -- to your surprise -- miss them profoundly."

Sweaters From Grandma Gwenn

The girls love their Oiler sweaters, thank you Grandma Gwenn! They were excited to get them in the mail!

I also wanted to throw in a photo of Lily's invitation we gave for her party. Ben actually came up with the idea and even stayed up one night helping me make them! It's all because we love you Lily!!!

Lily's Rainbow Party

Lily's Rainbow Party was a success! She had been looking forward to it for so long. She wanted to invite her entire kindergarten class plus friends from church, so to narrow it down and keep the number of kids somewhat reasonable, I suggested girls only. We ended up with 9 guests, which made for a big party!

The Rainbow cupcakes turned out pretty good! I saw them on a blog and thought they looked pretty easy, and then a couple of days later I saw a pack of those rainbow candies at Superstore. Lily loved them. I threw in a couple of sunshine cupcakes as well.

I tried to stick to the Rainbow theme that Lily wanted pretty closely. I even tried to make the fruit platter look like a rainbow. The girls devoured the strawberries and grapes, and didn't even touch the cantaloupes or honeydew melon. I thought only my kids didn't like them!

We played many games, this one being "Rainbow Squeeze", where the girls have to squeeze each other's hands until the last girl feels the squeeze and grabs the rainbow licorice at the end. They all really liked this one:

Here they are playing "Blind Man's Bluff." Ben is helping the blindfolded girl as it was pretty tricky to tag someone:

Here they are making Suncatchers. We also made Froot Loop necklaces, and colored marshmallow towers with toothpicks.

Another game we called "Rainbow Relay," where they have to fill up the cup with skittles, and the first team to do so wins.

We also played "Hot Sun," which is Hot Potato only with a yellow ball that looks like a sun, and planned to play "Pin The Cloud On The Rainbow," but ran out of time! They all had a great time, especially the birthday girl Lily!

Here is the whole crew!

Here is a picture of Lily the night before her actual birthday with the traditional balloon and stuffie awaiting her. The girls loved the Cupcake shirt I made for Chloe on her birthday so much, so I made one for each of them on their birthdays as well. Lily's is a blue rainbow shirt that she was really happy with.

She loved the googly eyed giraffe we got her:

She put him on her shoulder like how Rapunzel put Pascal on her shoulder in the movie Tangled, a movie we got her for her birthday and that she LOVES.

On her real birthday a few days ago:

Happy Birthday Lily! We love you so much!

Lily is 6!

Our lovely Lily is six years old! She is so happy to be six. The first thing she said to me upon waking up was, "Now I am REALLY old because it takes TWO hands to show how old I am! That means I am big now!" She is such a wonderful little girl who we love having in our lives! She has many talents like dance, piano, reading, writing, spelling. She came up to me today with a note she wrote that said, "TODAY IS BABY CLASS." Pretty good job with no help! She is so imaginative and easily comes up with fun games for her and her sisters to play. One of their favorites lately is "Baby Class" where she is the teacher and Olivia is the student. It is pretty cute. She is also very kind, loving, sensitive, and sensitive to other's feelings. She is a very sweet girl! She is a fantastic sister, to both her little sisters and her big sister, and also loves her cousins and friends very much! She makes friends very easily as she is so friendly and fun and kind. She is very playful and fun and loves to make up games and names for her dolls and stuffed animals. She is very smart and learns quickly. She can sight read really well on the piano! She has learned to read this year very well, and is the top reader in her class! She often writes little notes, and does such a fantastic job with the spelling on them. She loves scripture time every night in our family and loves going to Primary. We love you Lily very much! Happy Birthday!

BIG Secret

Before I had children, my title where I worked was "chemical technologist." When the girls ask me what I did before I became a mom, it is just easier for me to say, " I was a scientist." I worked in a lab, wore a lab coat, wore safety goggles, mixed and measured chemicals, the whole nine yards. Technically, I was a type of scientist. Anyway, Izzy drew this picture and folded it up and wrote "big secret" on the front. She only let me read it. Then she said I could take a picture of it and put it on the blog. Here it is opened:

She wants to be what I was when she grows up! She is really into space, nature, all things science lately. She brings home books she chose from her school library about science. She wants a science birthday party. It's pretty cute!
