"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will -- to your surprise -- miss them profoundly."

School Spell-A-Thon

Every year our kids' school holds a Spell-A-Thon where each grade is given a certain number of words to study and then get tested on. I was so happy to see that all 4 of the girls got 100%!!! Well done girls! I am so impressed.

In other news, Isabelle made the junior girls basketball team at school!  They only had 3 openings on the team for grade 6 girls, and she made one of them!  She was so happy.  Ben and I are so happy for her too.  I loved playing on the sports teams in Junior High and High School.  Some of my closest friends and greatest memories were made there.  I hope she enjoys it! She is lucky she goes to a school that gives her the opportunity to play on a junior high team while she is still in elementary school.

I love my basketball girls

Zoo Field Trip

I finally made it out to one of Chloe's fieldtrips for school. To the zoo!  I have not been there since we lived in Edmonton before, over 5 years ago!  The entrance has changed dramatically, as well as some other new exhibits.  It was a lot of fun, and nice to spend the day with Chloe.

Petting a Kenyan Sand Snake

Lucy has lived here for 37 years! She is well loved.

Letter of Appreciation

Izzy has worked so hard on her Faith in God these past 4 years.  She is all done now!  This was one of her final activities to do- write a letter of appreciation to her parents.  I love it and think it is so sweet. I always want to remember it.

Make The Ordinary Come Alive

I came across this and I love it!

Chloe's Year End Rhythmic Gymnastics Show

Chloe did such a good job on her year end show.  I have a video of it and will post it soon! She has had a good time with rhythmic gymnastics.

45 Years for Mom and Dad

We went down to Calgary over the Christmas break and celebrated my parents 45th wedding anniversary! They have always been such great examples of love, kindness, patience, respect, and everything else involved in a great marriage!  We had an awesome family potluck meal at the church, and played games, decorated cookies, and played sports together.  It was so fun and good to see everyone.  I actually took more photos of everyone, but I haven't uploaded them to my computer yet.

I also snapped a pic of this great sibling gift Sue and Kelly gave me. I LOVE Downton Abbey, and the food always looks so good on that show. I am excited to maybe try out one or two of these!  I love how the recipes are all titled after stories and characters in the show.

Like this one is after this scene:

Ethel: Can I really do it?  A salmon mousse?
Mrs. Patmore: Anyone who has use of their limbs can make a salmon mousse!

First Lost Tooth

Right before Christmas this little 5 year old lost her first tooth! And it was a top one!  That is a first for my kids.  It had been wiggly for weeks, and finally as she bit into her apple, out it popped!  She was happy to get $2 from the tooth fairy.
