"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will -- to your surprise -- miss them profoundly."

Family Reunions and a visit from the Wickhorsts

Our visit to the ledge.  I couldn't believe how empty it was!  Usually when we go it is so packed and hard to keep an eye on everyone.  It was the August long weekend so we assume a lot of people were away. Brock couldn't believe they just allow people to swim in the fountains.  It is pretty great.

Janae and Brock and the kids came up to Edmonton for a short visit.  It was great to see them and do fun things with them.  We went to the ledge (Legislature), Fort Edmonton Park, and ate out at Bannock Burger.  One night the adults only went to a movie, The Planet of the Apes one, (it was soooo good!) while Izzy and Brayden stayed home and babysat for us!  It is so nice having children this age!  Although, we got a phonecall in the middle of the movie, thinking oh no, what's happening.  It was just Lily asking if her and Rory could take a bath. Izzy said no, and she wanted to challenge it I guess.  Haha, it was annoying, but at least no one was hurt!

Trip to Fort Ed:

Testing out the jail cell

We finally got the back seat of the trolley!  Whenever we go on this, the back seat is always taken.

We took our annual ride on the High Level Streetcar to the ledge and back again.  Fun times!

The adults

The streetcar was so packed!  I have never seen it this packed before.  The ledge was completely empty, but the streetcar packed.  Go figure!

We went to nearby Menchies after

Then played at Lake Summerside after.  It was a hot day!

Not a great picture, but Janae and I swam across the lake and back again.  It was fun and relaxing.  We swam out to one of the public docks, jumped off it, and then swam back to shore.  Fun times!
We have also been super busy this summer with an Anderson Family Reunion here in Edmonton, and another shorter Mossey reunion at Lake Newel. Here are some pics:

The grandkids all played a giant game of basketball.  Seriously, roughly 25 kids were all out on the court at the same time.  It was entertaining to watch and Lily even scored a basket!  Hard to do with 6 people guarding you.

A little impromptu family dance after:

Olivia and Corbin.  Olivia is determined that Corbin is her boyfriend even though I've told her a million times your cousin can't be your boyfriend haha.

We were out at a friend's farm for one of the nights playing games (a get to know you game that I was assigned to be in charge of actually.  It went really well!) having a bonfire, and playing with their golf cart!  The kids had so much fun with that thing:

Clown car.  Let's see how many people we can fit into this thing.

The sunset was absolutely spectacular that night.

We had a giant sleepover with many of the girl cousins.  Waffles for breakfast!
We went out to Long Island one day with Grandpa's boat. Fun times!

Ben with his big bro Matt who he only gets to see once every 3 -4 years

CANNON BALL

Lily really loved playing with and taking care of baby Jonas

And then we went to Lake Newell by Brooks one day for the Mossey family reunion.  My Nana is so wonderful to have these every year.  It is nice to get together and see my cousins and aunts and uncles, and even my own siblings and parents who live far away.

All the great grandkids lining up for the piñata...

Mimi (aka Meila) was happy to see me!  She liked to follow me around and sit with me.  I love her!  I think she remembers last summer when I got to take care of her for a whole week.

Don't worry nobody was on that we were just driving out to the middle of the lake with it flying behind us

My cousin Tyler was so kind to let everyone have turns on his boat.

My uncle bought this Wave Runner and even my 88 year old Nana had a ride on it

baby Jade had fun bucking up this life jacket.  What a cutie

Another glorious sunset for the ride home.  I am loving all the beautiful sunsets we have had lately.
