"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will -- to your surprise -- miss them profoundly."

Turtle Lake

Gwenn and Dennis rented out a cabin in Turtle Lake Saskatchewan for a chunk of the summer, and asked their kids and grandkids to come join them at different times.  We went out for about a week.  We had a great time.  It was my first time going to Saskatchewan...it is a lovely place indeed!

In Lloydminster, the one town that borders on Alberta and Saskatchewan. These giant pillars are the border mark.  Here the girls are literally standing in two provinces at the same time!

There was zero wind on the drive there.  The sunsets reflecting the still waters were amazing

The cottage was the cutest thing ever! I guess it was actually a garage, and they converted it into a little cottage.

ILCO stands for Izzy Lily Chloe Olivia. They love to write this everywhere.  They have an ILCO club at home.

The beach and lake were literally 15 steps away from the front door.

I LOVED this porch swing and wanted to take it home with me

They had a trampoline in the backyard.  That is what our girls miss from our house in Calgary

This hammock was fun to play in

The girls had fun with Grandpa's boat. Tubing, wakesledding, knee boarding...

So this was the upstairs of the cabin. It had 2 giant rooms, each room holding a queen bed and 2 twin beds. The main floor had a master room with a queen bed, and another bedroom with a bunkbed (twin over queen) in it.  SO MANY BEDS! And space.  The perfect little cottage for a big family.  Dennis and Gwenn had room for everyone when they came! It was decorated so nicely too.  So cozy and charming.
There's a sliding door right beside that chair that leads to a little bathroom. We brought sleeping bags for the kids to sleep in so there would be less laundry to do at the end! I love how Izzy is reading her scriptures here.

Ben and I had this room all to oursleves. That queen bed was so comfy. The other two twin beds just stayed empty.

The water was amazingly warm...and shallow!  Out in the middle of the lake, Ben fell off the wakeboard and he could touch the ground! It was nice in comparison to freezing Lake Summerside.

Ben and I had a go too haha

The owners also had a SUP, a bunch of kayaks, and a peddle boat.  The kids had tonnes to do every day, and our little beach was practically empty every day!

They had fun collecting snails. We didn't see any turtles!  Apparently there is a myth that a giant turtle lives at the bottom of the lake....

We walked the 2 min a couple of times to the local shop for the ice cream they had there. 2 scoops for 2 dollars.

The whole group

We played a ton of board games and watched movies at night too. I loved the wrap around porch....so darling!

The dock was also about 1 min away. So convenient.

Sparkling water.

Painting nails one evening.

Fun Holiday for sure!
